Workshop with White Title Studio

Designing posters for democracy with pupils from Albinus Gemeinschaftsschule Lauenburg

27 June – 10.00-15.00 hrs
28 June – 12.00-15.00 hrs

in the Stadtgalerie Künstlerhaus Lauenburg

An event as part of the exhibition ‘Blurring the Lines’ (13.7. – 8.9.2024). The posters were used directly at the Lauenburg demonstration ‘Yesterday, today, tomorrow – Standing up for democracy’ on 14 July.

Some poster motifs can be taken along in the ‘Blurring the Lines’ exhibition.

Due to the upcoming elections, posters and advertisements will accompany us in public spaces throughout the year, mostly consisting of catchy slogans, clear colours and portraits of the candidates. In the workshop, we would like to analyse this visual language and consider how, through modification and further development, it no longer just pursues a political goal or a specific agenda of a party, but in contrast reflects the variety and diversity of people and the spectrum of opinions that are important in a democracy. The design parameters of the aesthetics of protest should be discussed so that the students can develop their own posters on this basis, which unite the idea of diversity of opinion in their uniqueness.

The project is funded by the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as part of the federal “Live Democracy!” programme.
