Expectations of the literature fellows
The fellowship is aimed at authors who publish in German.
We assume that the vast majority of the scholarship will be spent in Lauenburg. During their stay at the Künstlerhaus, the scholarship holders are expected to give at least one reading and one artist talk, as well as a joint first presentation and finissage.
Furthermore, we are pleased about a presentable gift of work to the collection of the Stadtgalerie Künstlerhaus Lauenburg (responsible body Künstlerhaus Lauenburg). However, this is a voluntary decision.
But a DIN A4 report on the scholarship at Künstlerhaus Lauenburg for the state of Schleswig-Holstein is obligatory.
Curated group exhibition with a selection of works by the grant applicants in the Stadtgalerie Künstlerhaus Lauenburg
Künstlerhaus Lauenburg would like to give more visibility and participation to a larger number of artists, writers and composers, as well as appreciate the effort they put into the application process.
As the number of applicants for 4 scholarship places grows every year, but Künstlerhaus Lauenburg is currently unable to offer more scholarships, we will try out a new format from 2024: a group presentation with selected works by applicants under changing curatorial direction.
In addition, the group presentation can reflect the impressive range of diversity of the applications, which reflects the diverse composition of our society in terms of geographical, ethnic or cultural origin, age, gender, sexual identity, world view, inclusion of people with disabilities or family situations.
All participating artists (approx. 10) will receive an exhibition fee of 250 €.
At the end of the application form, you must indicate whether or not you wish to participate in the group exhibition.
The group exhibition (spring 2024) shows a selection of artworks/contributions from all admitted applications of all three scholarship categories (residency and work fellowship).
The selection is made according to curatorial decisions and is not justified. Participation in the exhibition does not constitute an entitlement to funding; the scholarship holders are selected and exhibited independently of this. Participants in the exhibition who have not received a scholarship may reapply.
Applications and selection procedure
Incomplete applications or applications that do not comply with the specifications will not be considered. Applications without payment of the processing fee of 10.00 € are also excluded.
We only accept applications via the form on our website.
Please combine the following application documents into one PDF (max. 15-20 MB file size) and upload it.
- Description of the planned artistic project during the fellowship (max. 1 Din A4 page)
- List of publications (max. 1 Din A4 page)
- Curriculum vitae with artistic career (max. 1 Din A4 page)
- Prizes and scholarships (max. 1 Din A4 page)
- Portfolio with text samples (at least 5, max. 10 Din A4 pages)
- Links to video and/or audio works (max. 5 works) via e.g. Vimeo, Soundcloud, or youtube, link must be accessible at least until end of March 2024.
