The duo Hermes Hemmnis invites you to listen together whilst lying down on the Elbe terrace of the Künstler:innenhaus. Mats will be provided, but you are also welcome to bring your own.
Sound is not merely a physical phenomenon. It is shaped by the space in which it arises, thereby transforming the surroundings themselves into an instrument. ‘Horizontal Listening’ builds on this: lying down alters our perception, turns the body into a resonating body and causes our usual sense of space to disappear. As our attention is freed from the visual, space, sound and resonance take centre stage in the experience.
The event takes place as part of the year-long project ‘Resonanzen’, which, as a fluid group exhibition, also features artistic works by applicants for the 2026 scholarships in visual arts, composition and literature.
