Dialogue & Action 05
Transparency and transformation potential in cultural funding
Saturday, 26 April 2025 – 3 pm
Public discussion with: Alina Buchberger and Pajam Masoumi (The Performative Book Fair Hamburg, Kampnagel), Si-Ying Fung (visual artist), Dagmar Rauwald (visual artist), Paula Komoss (Director Overbeck Gesellschaft), Astrid Schmeling (Ensemble L′ART POUR L′ART ) and Uta Röpcke (MdL, Representative for Adult and Professional Education, Culture and Heritage Conservation). Moderation: Doris Weinberger (visual artist)
Who exactly do we mean when we say ‘we’? With “Dialogue & Action“ (Dialog & Handlung), we will explore this fundamental question with a view to the cultural sector and discuss the selection, representation and strengthening of artistic voices. Because shaping our working and production conditions is not just a question of resources, but also of co-determination, visibility, collaboration and transparency.
We invite you to an open, critical dialogue to discuss findings from the preceding internal workshop with our guests from the fields of literature, art, composition and cultural policy.
The event is aimed at anyone interested in transforming cultural institutions from the inside out by breaking down barriers, making diverse voices heard and reimagining what an equitable community with fair access can look like.
Concert
Sunday, 25 Mai 2025 – 3 pm in the Künstlerhaus Lauenburg,
End 4.30 pm at the Elbschifffahrtsmuseum Lauenburg
Finissage, Reading and Concert
Sunday, 1 June 2025 – 3 pm
In the first part, the poet Ines Berwing and the two authors Sascha Preiß and René Markus will read selected texts on the Elbterrasse of the Künstlerhaus. In the second part, Dilek Mayatürk’s poems will merge with the sounds of music by composer Amen Feizabadi and become a unified work in the performance.
The texts negotiate community fluidly and from different perspectives. They write against fear, tell of wanting to understand, of loss, of how language and sound interweave or what it is like to think and write poetry in two languages.
The exhibition POETICS OF TOGETHERNESS explores the concept of community in a time characterised by individualism and global tensions. The presentation of contemporary works from the visual arts, literature and composition opens up a multi-layered dialogue about what unites us and what we have in common.
The spaces, rituals and dreams of the community are negotiated in the individual works: What do we dream about and where do we come together? How do we speak and write in two languages at the same time? How much transparency can a community tolerate? Where does it find protection? The artistic positions reflect the present and ask: Who do we mean when we say ‘we’? And who do ‘we’ want to be?
The exhibition, curated by Annika Dorau, goes beyond traditional genre boundaries by combining 13 positions from the visual arts, literature and composition. This expanded view of artistic creation enables a dialogue between language, visual expression and sound. Different artistic media are understood as equal forms of expression that together develop new narratives about community.
The event is part of the ‘Hamburg reads the Elbe’ festival.
